Why did 2001 Dodge Dakota Sport just die.

I was driving the other day and my truck just died.  Tried to start it and nothing, no gauges
worked, nothing.  Finally got it started and it ran a little ways and it died again.  Computer on it
and it says reads nothing.  Any ideas??

check the battery terminals they corrode and will break connection thus causing this problem.

They were dirty and I cleaned them and connected them back and it still is doing it, it starts and you drive it and it just dies or should I say loses power.

check the power cable going to the starter i had a simialar problem replace that wire

The power cable going to the starter won't make the truck lose power. You cleaned the terminals but are they tight? Is the truck just shutting off like you turned the key off? or is it sputtering and dying? And lastly, the important question.... what engine?
