I have a 1988 YJ with a 36 weber carburator and my its hard to start in the morning and every 300 miles there is an unusal amont of carbon built around the spark plugs what do I need to do the fix thi

The Weber is a nice carb but on any carburetor conversion, it must be done right- attention must be paid to the details. In your case, it sounds like the choke isn't working, or wasn't set up at all. Early carbs had a manual choke, and I prefer those. If all else fails, maybe you could set up a knob and cable from the dash. But this carb must have some kind of provision for an automatic choke- look and see what kind it is. Are there coolant hoses attached to the choke? This would be the kind of auto choke controlled by the temperature of the coolant. Whatever, you will have to do some figurin' out to make your choke work and have your car start right up when it's cold. You can always take the air cleaner off and have a friend hold the choke flaps closed until it starts. As for fouling the plugs, the carb is probably not jetted right and/or the air/fuel mixture screws are not adjusted right . If you need to, take the car to a good mechanic who knows these carbs (just ask on the phone, "do you guys work on Weber carbs?") this may seem like a hassle and an expense, but once a Weber is set up right, it will work for years without further attention
