How long does it take to replace a transmission?

Asked by JeepGirlJen Sep 16, 2019 at 10:37 AM about the 2012 Jeep Patriot Latitude 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The transmission went out on my Jeep in August.
It was under warranty and they agreed to replace it.
The mechanic has had the new transmission for
17 days now and is telling me it still is not ready
even after telling me it is only a 10 hour job. Is this
normal or do I need to be asking more questions?

The shop could very well be backed up, although 17 days is a long time. They didn't give you an estimate of when it would be done?

On the 6th of this month, they said the 10th, on the 13th they said all it needed was the tires put on and a test drive, they haven't called me back since then. When I called this morning, they said he was checking on it and still have not called me back.

That sounds really sketchy that it takes 3 days to put the wheels on and test drive. Give them until after lunch today and I would call in again and say you're coming to pick it up. They will either have your car ready and you'll pick it up and drive home no worries or you'll show up and they will have been screwin you the whole time and then you need to take legal action

Try calling Jeep Customer Service to complain and get the ball rolling if you can't get the local dealership to work faster.
