Does the 2010 Jeep Patriot have a transmission filter or the wire mesh?

So I know very little about transmission stuff. I called a garage about getting a tranny flush and was told that the 2010 Jeep Patriot likely doesn't have a filter that needs to be changed. He said it probably has a little wire mesh piece and that when they change the fluid it will wash away most if not all of the metal shavings caught by the mesh. Is this true, or does it have a traditional filter that needs to be changed?
