If you want a tough long lasting finish I would get them powder coated. This is a very durable finish and you can pick your color.

Not sure on your location, but there are powder coating places all over. If you do all the prep work It would cost about 25-35 dollars per wheel maybe even as low as $20 again depending on where you live. If you by all the sandpaper, paint, primer, cleaning supplies you will have close to that anyway. Powder coating is the most durable. You would have to sandblast the wheels either way If I haven't talked you into powder coating yet repost and I'll tell you how to get the best durable paint job.

An always reasonable source is youtube. I don't think aztec626bf is getting that YOU want to do it YOURSELF.

a word of warning on powder-coating. if you have Alloy rims (most newer cars do) of any sort, you should NEVER powder-coat them. powder-coating involves high temperatures which will alter the alloy and make them very, very weak and prone to cracking and shattering, thus creating a potentially life threatening situation. some shops will do it anyway because they do not know better so make sure to check on the kind of rims you have before choosing powder-coat. automotive paint will work well (usually just take em to a shop). it will chip a bit more than powder-coat and will not last quite as long but we are still talking years and years of use.

Right you have to cure the powder coat accordingly regarding temperature. (http://www.apowdercoating.com/)
