my 2004 staturn fan not running but the car isnt getting hot

it over heat while sitting wit ac on for long period of time went in the red the coolant top was taking of while hot an shot every where after refilling  the temp runs bout half way and fan want start up

check any fuses and relays associated with the fan. if they are good unplug the fan and jumper it with 12 volts from the battery to see if the fan itself works. if it does it could be a coolant temp sensor.
