4x4 locking in when you are turning slow

when i am parking my Durango it locks into 4 wheel drive. my 4x4 service light comes and goes for the 4 wheel drive. I have goggeled that part already. I was wondering if I could take that part off and still be able to drive my vehicle until I could afford the new part and get the whole 4 wheel drive system serviced?

you could indeed remove the front drive shaft and drive with it. but you need to get the codes checked in it to see whats going on, sounds like a defective sensor to me telling the ECM a wheel is slipping and kicking in the 4 wheel drive or the vehicle is left in 4 wheel drive when it should be in 2 or awd
