Clean or replace the Intake Air Control valve, aka IAC. It let's an engine breathe when you let up off the gas (ie the throttle plate is closed).

Clean your map/mav sensor. It's located somewhere on your throttle body/air intake. That little diode measures the amount of O2 in the air and adjusts the amount of fuel to send to the injectors. If it gets just a little dirty it throws off the whole system. Squirt it once or twice with engine cleaner. Be careful though. It's delicate and expensive. It'll improve your mpg too..
