My 2006 Nissan won't start

I drove home from work tonight which takes about
20 mins all highway . Stop at the gas station  about  
3 minutes from home. Car starts just fine, Get
home I  stop to check my mail box. Get back in my
car and it won't start.  It's turning over lights work
but it won't start.  My check engine light comes on
from to time but it wasn't hasn't been on in about a
week or so. And it didn't come on tonight.

It could be many things you need to see what is not working to know where to look. See if you have/have not fire or fuel.

Interesting "coincidence" that you stopped at the gas station ... If your tank was very low then you may have pulled debris/water from the bottom of the tank into the fuel filter ,,, long shot but worth checking
