Several Symptoms. I am unsure they are related.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2005 Dodge Magnum - not a Hemi
The first problem was about a year ago. I drove probably 70 miles and then had to idle
for a bit. By the time I was able to stop I could feel the heat and it smelled really hot. I
wanted for 4-5 hours and then looked and it was completely empty of antifreeze. I put
water in its place and drove home normally.

Got an oil change and water drained and antifreeze in its place. Drove for months
again.

Next incident: Driving 200 miles, running ac unit. Lose all pressure to AC and then it
just starts blowing hot air. Turn it off, and leave off until we get home. I removed us
some pine needles from vents. Everything seemed to be fine and no more loss of
antifreeze.

A few months later, the car would smell "hot". I don't think it was antifreeze, it smelled
more mechanical if that makes any sense.

Now, current day I still have the smell occasionally but not as bad. Right before the past
two oil changes I have been low on oil. The water is still fine.
Now the heat only works when the car is moving, it blows cold air when idling.
I was idling and my oil light just flashing and the alert sounded. I got out and checked
the oil and it appeared to be empty. So, I put a half quart in and drove to work (3 miles)
without any problems.

I ask my husband to drop off a quart of oil and he goes to put it in and I am completely
full of oil.

I am showing a code for an EGR sensor which I have not changed yet.

It has 112,000 miles. I am the original owner.

no heat at idle, low on water in system, air bubble circulating in system, checking oil make sure the dipstick cap is in its place and insert to that point, the best time is before running it as all oil is settled. engines with heavy sludge can restrict oil flow back to pan from up at valve covers on certain designs
