High pressure fuel pump extended warranty

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 MINI Cooper S that has been experiencing engine misfires. A
local mechanic identified a fault code for a high pressure fuel pump, and
suggested I get it replaced under the extended warranty. MINI said I needed
to change my spark plugs and ignition coils, which was causing the misfires,
which was causing the pump to fault (they acknowledge seeing the first fault
code). Original mechanic says the pump is responsible for the misfires. A
friend of mine, who works on cars as a hobby, also agrees that the spark
plugs and ignition coils shouldn't affect the pump. MINI says they will only
replace the pump if they can get an active fault code in their hands. They
want me to replace the spark plugs and ignition coils first, then see if the
pump is still faulting, and if they can't get it to fault in their hands, they can't
replace it. My point is, if the pump has faulted, I would like it replaced before
the extended warranty runs out to be safe. Who's right??

No, my mechanic didn’t clear the code so MINI would see it, which they did acknowledge. They just said replace the spark plugs and ignition coils first and then they would check again. But if no fault code comes up, then I’m out another $175 for a diagnostic. :\ After I change the sparks and plugs, could it be possible that it’s an intermittent problem, which means MINI may or may not see it in their hands?

Imy Infineon light came on in my Mini Cooper r56. The mechanic turned off the light and gave me the fault code of 2779-2781 27BA 27B. Is there anything else I need to do now? My car is a 2012

I’m on my 6th HPFP since buying the 2012 Clubman S in 2011. Yes. It has been changed under warranty 5 times. And I’m about to come up on my 120,000 miles. It breaks my heart to let Lil’ Blue go, but I may have to find a new ride. Paying out of pocket for that it whack.

Mine failed this past weekend on my 2012 Cooper S with 65K miles and Mini will not replace it

BTW, when I called the BMW/Mini dealership they were unaware of any extended warrantee on the HPFP. Am I getting run around?
