Malibu remote stopped working after alarm/panic button went off.

Asked by Galilea Jun 05, 2019 at 04:10 AM about the 2012 Chevrolet Malibu LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Today I accidentally( alarm/panic button) pressed
it instead of the trunk button so I pressed unlock
thinking it would stop ringing . Then it finally
stopped and it didnt unlock or lock after that. So I
pressed the panic button again then it stopped and
worked. Once I got home I tried locking it again
and it didnt work. My bf tried reprogramming it but
that didn't work. What should I do now ? I forgot to
add it doesnt unlock , lock nor open the trunk only
thing that works is the alarm/panic button

unfortunately, technology is eating us up with these key fobs. and it sounds like Chevy is taking a page out of the imports. if you have a remote control key fob, what MIGHT help is getting a memory saver and put it on your battery and plug it in to the cigar out. how does the bf know that he tried to reprogram it properly?? although it's not hard, the instructions are in the owners manual or google as well. Again, I have never owned a Chevy, but it sounds like they are trying to take a page out of the imports. good luck
