Asked by armando Aug 04, 2023 at 07:53 AM about the 2012 Dodge Durango R/T RWD

Question type: General

My durango takes a few tries to start.
Sometimes it starts on the first try but theres
other times where it takes up to 10 times. Also
everytime i try i just here a click but i know its
not the battery or starter because iv already
replace them and besides i always get full power
in my car when i switch it to on my A/C blows
hard and headlights shine bright. i even replaced
the alternator but i still have the same problem. If
anyone has any idea what it could be please let
me know im open to everyones idea thank you

If you get just one loud click that usually means the solenoid has a bad spot in the contact ring. But I have also seen bad grounds do the same thing. So are sure you have good battery to engine and engine to frame and body grounds.

Check the neutral safety switch as well. When it refuses to start, try starting it in neutral. Hope that helps! Jim
