Starter drawing too many amps cold, bad battery cables causing voltage drops. I have even seen ignition switches act weird when cold,

Might be an electrical problem. Maybe bad coils.
Coils can be a problem in cold weather, but there are many other possibilities. The most likely is a bad battery. when batteries wear out, they have problems storing and delivering electricity. Loose or corroded cables just don't pass electrical current properly, and when cold, resistance goes up.
