Can a 97 Cadillac engine be exchanged with a 96 engine

Just call a Cadillac dealer and ask the parts department they should give you the information if it will fit. The years are close but, not all engines will fit the next year. Also a Auto eng. rebuilding shop can answer that question as well. One more thing if you go to an Autozone and buy a repair book on that year it should tell you or you can also ask the sales person he may be able to answer that too!

I have 98 Cadillac with 4.6 and I also have a 92 with a 4.9 in it , I was Wondering if I could switch the 4.9 with the 4.6 in the 98
