V-6 motor in Cadillac CTS Coupe

Asked by Christopher Apr 16, 2022 at 03:36 PM about the 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe 3.6L Premium AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I heard that the V-6 in the Cadillac CTS
is a bad motor and to expect many
problems.  Does anyone have a car like
this one who would share their
experience with this vehicle?

i just hear alot about the timing chain... you might wanna change it around 100,000 miles. i recommend 5w-30 fully synthetic oil or 0w-40 full synthetic. if you change your own motor oil, i'd put oil on the filter before install to have some quicker lube.i changed my oil at 4.5k miles to keep the engine running better. my timing chain sounded clanky at 73k miles before trade- in. it would be good to keep the chain from slipping out.
