can an exaust leak fault out my o2 scensor

Question type: General

i ran my 2003 cts with
an exhaust leak for a
while . and then my
error codes read p0036
and p0141 . i shut off
check engine light and
as soon as i turn car of
and back on the light
comes back with same
two codes. i got new
flex pipe fixed leak but
light will not go off still
is most likely the bank
scensor 2? it says
heater low side open
circuit.and heater
circuit  malfuntion .  
just wanted to no if i
buy this scensor and
replace if that will do it?

I would examine the wiring of the O2 sensor looking for burned or frayed spots. Also your vehicle might have a fuse for the O2 heater that could be open or corroded. Exhaust leaks can cause O2 sensors to report faults, but your fault seems to be related to the O2 heater circuit. The O2 heater preheats the sensor when first starting the vehicle. O2 sensors need to be hot for them to start reading properly and the O2 heater causes them to heat quickly which helps reduce emissions soon after the vehicle is started.
