Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2007 335i was over heating going into limp mode
tested water pump tested ok so changed thermostat and fan, went to bleed
cycle the coolant and needed to disconnected battery for 10 minutes to get
it to reset then cleared the system and topped off over flow reservoir. car
still showing over heating warning yellow first then switches to red when
temp gauge reaches 210 temp.  any thoughts or ideas? if there some type
of reset i need to do, should i replace the water pump even though it seems
to be working ok? thanks

How did you test the water pump? Is your radiator fan coming on? They usually kick in just under 210 but every vehicle is different. Make sure the radiator fins aren't clogged with bugs/ dirt or that there aren't alot of bent fins. There is always the possibility that the radiator is restricted internally also.

thanks - i tested the water pump by having it run the bleed cycle in accessory position temp up to hi and fan on low then you hold gas pedal down for 10 seconds then the pump kicks on and runs a 7 yo 12 minute bleed cycle which it does without a problem so i am taking that as proof that the pump is working OK. radiator is clean and has no dents or damage. any other thoughts?
