Correct Instrument Panel?

35

Asked by fwatkins6 Nov 22, 2007 at 02:05 PM about the 1987 BMW 3 Series 325i

Question type: General

I have a 325 convertible with a 2.5 L engine, the car says it was manufactured on 11/87, I am wondering what was the redline for this engine? I have seen both a 5000 and 7000 on different vehicles, which is the correct redline?

83,795

I would suspect that the instrument cluster differs only as a point of detail. Correct redline is probably in the 6,000 range but often times the 7,000 is included as a logical ending point for the tachometer. I would try to keep RPMs below 5k in practice.
