Asked by Joey Jan 11, 2023 at 07:06 PM about the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've got a 2011 jeep grand
cherokee overland w the 5.7
and having an issue w the
check engine light and traction
control light coming on at the
same time. Pulled the codes
and it's saying cam sensor
everytime. I've replaced the
cam and crank sensor and the
variable timing solenoid.
Cleaned the intake good and
replaced the intake gaskets.
Still coming on.  Anyone have
any suggestions on what else
to do??

Did you use factory Chrysler parts especially sensors? Aftermarket sensors just don’t do well in Chrysler products. I found this out on my old Jeep.

You're taking pot shots at the problem , The code tells you where the problem is not what to replace , things need to be diagnosed , vehicles have tech over kill making life more difficult but somehow people think it's great .

This is my issue that I'm coming across when the check engine light comes on. Intake manifold has been cleaned of carbon build up and the cam, crank and varible cam timing solenoid has all been replaced.

How many miles are on the engine? If over 100000 then look at the timing chain, it could be stretched and there are known problems with the cams. Good luck.

Yes G A is right at 184,000 but I'm not sure if it's been done at all or not. We bout it used and it had 165,000 when we got it 3 yrs ago.
