Heater in my 2011 Chevy Impala

Asked by Mar 06, 2017 at 07:42 PM about the 2011 Chevrolet Impala LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My blower is turned on high and turns on
and off when it wants to.  When it works it
blows out cold air and when it isn't working
there is no heat at all.
So far the blower motor, heat modulator
thing, and the blower motor resistor pigtail
has been changed in my car.  Yes I have
checked the antifreeze and it is good.  As I
was on the phone with the mechanic today
the blower actually shut off and turned
back on by itself within 30 seconds of
driving.  Yes it blows out heat.  The blower
itself has a mind of its own because it
always heats but it turns on and off as it
wants.  The thermostat has also been ruled
out.  So what is left?

It is the blower motor resistor that is pictured to the right. That is what controls the blower motor speed. On the heat, all that is another issue, that in your last statement, not sure if it is an issue.

Replace the blower motor resistor.

The resistor was just replaced and it is still doing it.

I went threw 5 resistors in a months time until I got one that is still working. But I would investigate the switch to make sure it is working properly also.

Okay, thank you. I will replace it again this weekend.
