Low Mile Impala

Asked by speckidz Jul 06, 2014 at 11:45 AM about the 2011 Chevrolet Impala LT FWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Is $14,200 a reasonable offer on a 2011 CPO Chevy Impala LT with 14,000 miles, w/ leather seats and spoiler. The inside was pristine, but it did have some scratches. They want 15,777 which I find outrageous for a 2011, even in good condition. I'm reasonable and know the dealer needs to make money, but I don't want to be robbed blind either!

I just paid $14700 for a 2013 with 11000 miles so I would have to say U could get a much newer car for that price.

If u buy a 2012 and up u get the new 3.6 engine which is rated at 305 horsepower and still gets great gas milage.

I'm very new to this whole car buying thing and hate it! I'm trying to educate myself on the fly as we need a car...like yesterday! Our 08' Impala got totaled out last week. I've researched all the sights like NADA, CarGuru, KBB, Edmund's and I'm more confused that ever. LOL. Is there a simple formula to run so you can go in to a dealer confident about your numbers, yet not be so insulting that they kick you out of the dealership? My last negotiation didn't go well and it's because they were not willing to budge. He threw out some of the lamest one liners I've ever heard. I can't stand BS and though I'm by no means a car expert, I'm not so stupid as to not know when I'm being railroaded! LOL. I think I totally blew it when I told him to his face he was being way too greedy! Haha. I just lost it and we walked out. Can't let that happen again as we really need a car. So...if there is a good way to find a decent price they can live with and I can live with, I'd love to know how to get that number. There is just such a difference in numbers of different sources and the ranges are so big, I don't know how low is too low of an offer. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

my hunt always starts on the internet, car guru, autotrader.com, CarMax, punch in what your looking for and the lowest price and u have a thousand cars at your fingertips, then call the dealer and verify the price that is advertised before u waste a trip, 99% of the impalas are rental cars anyway, you should have no problem getting a deal, one more thing always check the carfax.

Thanks. That's exactly what I've done. I felt good walking in with about the low mileage '11 Impala and was kinda shocked that they wouldn't budge on the price.

Just remember that there is always a dealer somewhere ready to negotiate a good deal.
