2010 Mini Clubman unusual water issue

Asked by ChadMTT Jul 03, 2019 at 04:50 PM about the 2010 MINI Cooper Clubman S FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When my 2010 Mini Cooper Clubman S gets wet (rain, wash) the entire
dashboard goes haywire, and the rear third break light goes out. Once it dries,
everything goes right back to normal. I have cleaned out all the drains in the
roof, the firewall, and replaced the windshield cowl. What could be causing the
problem still?

You may want to have the windshield resealed. Talk to an automobile glass shop and see what they can do.

That's what my thought was. I took it to a body shop, and they said they tested the windshield and there are no leaks.

Update!!! We found the issue. It was an exposed wiring harness underneath the rear bumper! This was a very interesting find. We covered the harness in some plastic and electrical tape, and all is working!
