Tire Inlfator wont open the valve stem?

I bought a Stanley Portable Power J5CPD, it has an air compressor in it with a
Sure Fit nozzle. The nozzle will not depress the pin in the valve stem. I took the
core out of the valve stem to see if the pin was actually large enough to be
depressed by the nozzle and the pin fits right into the wire outlet instead of
being depressed by the fitting. What am I missing here?
