Excessive wear on brakes

Asked by Sarahm138 Jul 03, 2019 at 02:34 PM about the 2010 Subaru Outback 2.5i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had to replace my brakes (front and rear
pads, rear rotors) in early ‘17 on my Subaru
Outback. In late 2018, I needed to replace my
rear brakes again. I now need to replace my
front brakes. My car is 9 years old and has
about 58,000 miles on the clock. I don’t ride
my brakes hard.

You might have brake calipers that are hanging up, and the brakes would be hot from dragging. It could also be the rubber brake lines at the calipers are shrinking shut, not releasing the hydraulic pressure.

Hmm... I also replaced the passenger side rear caliper in ‘17 and both rear calipers in ‘18.
