What would make my car not start?

Why do I have to knock on the instrument cluster to
get my 2010 ford escape to start, if I simply just
turn the key everything powers up it just won't
crank until I knock on the cluster

Everything in the steering column has been replaced and so was wondering if maybe there could be a wire that goes to the ignition behind the cluster that could maybe be loose or a plug that has a bad connection, I don't really want to take everything apart if there isn't a possibility that it is possible for something like that to be the problem but I can jump the solenoid with the switch on and it fires right up so maybe just throw a push button start in it for now
