what happens when oil life reaches zero

Umm...If your oil life indicator actually READS zero, you should have changed it AWHILE ago IMO. When was the last time you DID change it? (This is a pretty good feature which my GF could use as she ALWAYS waits TOO long between oil changes and WON'T take my advice on using Full Synthetic Oil ...even after I explained the features and benefits of it :::SIGH:::)

My mechanic tells me that car owners shouldn't rely Completely on Oil Life Monitor & should change Oil before it dips below ~20% or so- oterise you start to see really dirty oil- which couldn't be too good for the engine longevity- so short answer "change oil sooner than later".
