Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced my ignition coils and spark plugs to
fix a missfiring problem but noticed oil in my
cylinders. I just got code error P2099 fuel system
too rich. Would replacing the valve gaskets fix that
error? Or is it my Mass airflow sensor? Please help

Chances are it is your mass air flow sensor valve cover gaskets will not fix any of the problems you expressed

Oil lives in your cylinders to lubricate the piston rings and would be evident below the rings, not above. Are you sure you are seing oil and not unburned fuel which would explain why you are getting the "fuel system rich" error.

It could possibly be unburned fuel. The texture was thick and silky and dark brown... I'm going to try to clean the airflow sensors and see if that fixes the error. If not then AutoZone suggested I replace my catalytic converter gasket??

Ignore the Autozone advice. I don't know what he was smokin'! There is only one "gasket" on an exhaust pipe and this is a donut located on the inbound side of the cat converter. It has no effect on your engine monitoring system that is telling you that you are running rich. The O2 sensor would be the one providing the "rich" indication and that usually sits before the converter.

I took out the mass airflow sensor and sprayed the pins theroughly with contact cleaner and that kicked off the p2099 error
