2010 chevy cobalt engine powers down while driving

I have a 2010 Chevy Cobalt having issues with the engine
powering down going into a safe mode while driving have
to pull over turn it off a minute or two then try starting it
again sometimes it stapa and runs fine and then other
times it'll be in the in the power download and runs rough
idles funny hit or miss not sure what the issue is been
told that it could be the brake p the computer screen
reads engine power reduced
