Ford Explorer/Mercury Mountaineer vent door lever fix

For those experiencing issues with the vent controls of
their HVAC systems.  If the air blows through the defrost
vent even though the control is set to Max AC, you need to
check the lever that connects the door to the actuator. A
frequent issue is a plastic nub that the actuator arm
attaches to breaks off and causes the vent door not to
change properly. To verify this is your issue, please follow
the instructions: 1) Open the glovebox and release the side
tabs so it hangs down.   2) Use a flashlight and looked
through the glovebox opening and slightly upward towards
the stereo.  3) The attached picture is what your looking for.   
If this is what you are facing, there are 2 solutions. The first
