Why is my blower motor intermittently turning off and on.

Asked by Pjandre3 Jan 28, 2021 at 05:14 PM about the 2009 Subaru Legacy 3.0R Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Blower motor turns on and off intermittently, I
replaced it, then the relay, the fuses are good and
the heater core hoses are both hot. Coolant is at
the hot fill line and goes back down to the cold fill
line. Why does the blower motor refuse to start then
just pop on all of a sudden.

Would probably be a good idea to check the thermostat control knobs under the head unit. I've seen the connectors for these short out. Kindof a pain to take out to look at but if it's shorted would explain this exactly. Also would be worthwhile to check the blower motor resistor pack for the same shorting issue as this has a connector as well.
