Brakes

Asked by Gidean Jan 09, 2020 at 09:14 AM about the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country Touring FWD

Question type: General

2009 t and c...my brakes are “frozen” still after installing new calipers, pads ad
rotors all the way around, as well as a new master cylinder.....car seems to
drive freely, getting ok mileage, but when lifted into the air, wheels do not spin
freely, as in locked up brakes, no it is not wheel bearings either...any ideas

With disc brakes the wheels will never spin 'freely'....they always drag a little. With the old drum brakes (many years ago) the brake shoes would withdraw completely from touching the brake drum and the wheels truly spun freely. But since the advent of disc brakes I have never seen a wheel spin freely again. The disc pads are always in slight contact with the rotors and a certain amount of drag is inevitable.
