09 chevy 1500

Asked by Zackt Dec 18, 2016 at 02:37 PM about the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 09 chevy 1500 lt crew cab with the 5.3 in it.
Today and yesterday the weather has been cold like
-15 with feel like temp of -30. My truck wouldn't
start just one click when I try to turn it over so it
made me think the start was sticking. I still had
radio and lights. So I turn the key to acc and just let
sit for 5-10 min and then it would start right up like
it was nothing.  Today same thing, wouldn't start at
all so then I just turned it to acc for 10 min and it
fired right up.  What is causing this?  I'm so
confused on what the deal is

No voltage is applied to the starter until you turn it to Start. Maybe you have a sticking starter relay?
