Trunk water

Asked by Duke004 Jan 14, 2020 at 05:48 PM about the 2009 Cadillac DTS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I know this has been brought up many times before. I have water in my trunk
and its getting moldy. My 2009 DTS smells like spoiled food. Ive checked the
3rd brake light and plates screws and they are dry. The drivers side is the only
side wet. Any suggestions?

Look around the trunk gasket for signs of the water intrusion. Also, the body panel that meets just below the trunk lid at the front corner has been known to corrode and provide a path for water to get in. When things are dry, use the hose technique. Spray water on the rear windows and trunk lid and then open the trunk and look for water (do this with everything out of the trunk including the carpet.

Body Seam fill on trunk floor, sides and edges of the trunk. I had a monsoon in mine and it did the trick . Use in a ventilated area and don't drive car with windows up for a few days unless you want to be very, very high .. no pets either... I made that mistake and I was high as a kite from the fumes.. no more water leaks tho.. 3m seam filler in Amazon
