My car want crank

Okay my mechanic said that I needed a new starter
so we both went to Auto Zone & bought a brand
new starter okay he puts it on her ask me to crank
up my car & it still wouldn't crank but the lights
inside where you see the gas symbol etc so I'm
just tryna figure out what could be wrong I don't
know anything about a car somebody help me out
please & thank you

Might be battery .It will act like that with a battery going. Check alternatorBattery cable terminals cold be dirty us I think baking soda and,water .Google how to clean them

This is a very common problem on GM vehicles. The security system is notoriously known to fail. Basically when you insert your key, the system checks for a certain signal. If the system cannot get the correct signal from the key, it assumes the key is incorrect or you are attempting to hotwire it. The system then goes into SECURITY lockout mode. (prevents vehicle theft) This will either turn off the starter, or the fuel injectors. This has been happening with GM's for a very long time. There are ways to bypass this now. Read through this page for info, solutions as well. Google these for info diy-gm-security & newrockies
