My engine light has been on for months i ve taken it to the dealership

I ve taken it to the dealership 7 times and they place it on the machine only to tell me it
needs more testing this cost 85 a pop.  They fix it up so that it runs for weeks at a time.
Now the head has been rebuilt and  along with hundreds of dollars in more work since
coming from the shop the radio no longer works, engine light still on and the dealership
now advises me not to put anymore money in it. to trade it..any advice
