Gmc Acadia 2008

Asked by GuruW6TVS May 24, 2018 at 01:03 PM about the 2008 GMC Acadia SLT-1 FWD

Question type: General

I have a Gmc acadia 2008 that I bought like a month ago. I
have the issue that my truck won't turn on. It won't make a
sound when I try to crank it. The service theft Tarrant
system is on and I had to buy a new key from the
dealership and program it myself but now the battery went
out. I bought a new battery today and installed it and now
the battery is working but I still have the same problem.
The service theft deterrent system is on still and it will not
crank still. What should I do now.... do I need to try to
program it again since I installed the new battery? HELP
PLEASE ANYONE.

You have to install new battery then shut all the doors and lock the car with the key wait a minute the unlock the car use if the key and get in and put the key in ignition and turn the switch on and wait 2 mins or so Turn the key off then try to start it not positive but I’m pretty sure that will work the dead battery made the car lose memory of the key

I tried all of the above. Took it into the dealership and had it diagnosed turns out my car was in theft mode. No clue what triggered it. Only way to solve the issue was to replace my VMIC line. $779 repair bill. Best of luck. I haven't had this problem since replacing the line.

Hi, what is VMIC line? I have a 2008 acadia with no cranking since I change my ignition switch. There is also a theft deterrent system icon on my dash. Yes the radio is working. My two transponder keys are not working but I lock/unlock doors are fine. I will try to go to dealer to have a non program key and Try to program it.
