AM radio has no signal, only white noise. All else works.

Asked by newthings Jan 19, 2014 at 01:56 PM about the 2008 Land Rover LR3 HSE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2008 LR3. AM radio signal missing. All else works. As the key is turned, the AM signal is
present, but is gone as the switch moves to start and run. AM sometimes comes on. 5% of
the time. Some bad connection, but where?
Thanks, Roy

Try the Ignition capacitor Part# LR004160 it has superseded the original part# LR004159. It suppresses electrical noise for the AM radio. It also is rumored to cause little performance gremlins and is generally replaced as a matter of course. Remove the engine cover and it's located near the rear of the engine on the passenger side attached to the mounting bracket for the engine cover.
