How many VTEC units have actually failed?

Why has he had so many? I mean does he enjoy going through the hassle of inspection and licensing every few months? I can understand if he flops cars, but if not that's a lot of paper work and taxes and fees... Well I guess I'm being forgetful of the fact that this forum is not just local... Perhaps ya'll don't have to deal with emissions and safety inspections or have to pay a sales and licensing tax... I mean here you end up paying several hundred dollars just to get a decent car road legal... I can't imagine someone wanting to do that more than once every few years...

ANYWAYS, back on subject =P VTEC solenoid probably doesn't fail that often, however the screen might be dirty... check it next time you get the chance

NEVER heard about that... About 12 years of V-TEC exploitation... One turbo, some over 200000km of duty, Many frend/forum too... Never heard of that... Maybe I misunderstood your question... Maybe your oil level is low (usdm/cdm market have a V-tec sensor to check for enought oil in the head to 'open' v-tec...)... P.S: V-TEC rulez!

... 326,000 Miles... I think my vtec finally failed... I lost 5th gear at around 248... and just kept driving in 4th (4200 RPM at 70MPH)... Car still runs... 60MPH tops reset the computer and nothing...
