I bought a 97 Honda Civic Lx Sedan Automatic  it came
with an aftermarket engine but I don't know if it is Vtec or
not I was told I need to check the Automatic shift solenoid

That looks non-vtec. I'm not seeing a vtec solenoid. Buy it's hard to tell. Most likely non-vtec. Lx was non-vtec and to swap a vtec motor takes some knowledge.

And it the correct term is a engine swap. Not aftermarket
