Kia Spectra Speed/Odometer not working
I have a 2008 Kia Spectra w/automatic transmission and without ABS. After a few minutes of driving, the speedometer will quit working. So far I have tried replacing the two speed sensors on the transmission, the instrument cluster, and the wheel sensor. I have also placed a diagnostic tool on the vehicle and when the speedometer goes to zero, there is still a speed reading to the OBDII port.
If the speedometer works initially and then stops, you probably have a loose connection in the electrical line to the speedometer. You might have to remove the cluster to find it.
Would you know which wires I should check?
Most often it's the connection at the speedometer/cluster. You have to remove connections then plug them back. Or it's a bad wire between connections. Rarely, it's a defective speedometer itself.
