Coolant Issue after service
I am not a car person at all. I have a Ford Edge 2008 with about 175,000 miles on it. A couple months ago I noticed some brown oil spots in my driveway and my car jolting a bit while accelerating, the next day before I could get it to my mechanic I got a letter from Ford telling me not to drive it due to an airbag issue so I decided since my car would not be driveable for a couple months to take care of it after my airbag had been fixed not knowing the issue. The other day the part came in for the airbag so I took my car to the dealership and also had them do a oil change and tire rotation since it was due. During the oil change they found it needed thePTU and the drive shaft replaced. I called my mechanic and he explained that what was causing my issues and advised me to let them handle the repairs since I should not be driving it. When they called me to let me know the repair was done they told me the wheel bearing was bad too. They explained they could not hear it due to the noise my car was making before. At this point I am realizing they are not the most trustworthy dealer because my car was not making any noises furthermore when talking to the dealership today they told me they never took it on an initial test ride due to it being to dangerous so they never heard the noise since they never drove it (which is fine but they shouldn't have lied about it). Anyways I picked up my car to make sure it was doing what they said it was since I know it wasn't making any noise when it was dropped off. It did sound like the wheel bearing was bad (it might be the one thing I can hear wrong in a car), furthermore after driving the car home it started leaking what turned out to be coolant. I finally got it towed back to the dealer and they said they would figure out was wrong. When they called back and left a message 5 minutes before closing they let me know that the radiator hoses need to be replaced for $900, the wheel bearing needs to be replaced for $600 and there is a leak in my rear axle so another $2000 total after the $3000 repair I have already paid for, and when I did okay the first repair they assured me it wouldn't need anymore major work since they did a full inspection on my car during the oil change. I probably would have just gotten a new car if I would have known about these additional issues since it is 10 years old and there are so many miles, so I am really frustrated with this whole situation. Is it just a coincidence all of this happened right after picking up my car up from an oil change, tire rotation and a ptu and driveshaft replacement or could there be another issue I am not seeing? Any insight would be apricated before I talk to them on Monday.
