Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 2008 Jeep Liberty and the heater works but will not blow the air to the feet nor
to the back on the floor. From what my repair guy said he could see the gears are not
stripped but they are not touching each other to be able to switch the heat to the floor. I
was told that the whole dash had to be taken out to fix this issue as it is right behind
the drivers side. is this true? I am told it will take 9 hours to pull out and then replace
it.....Is there any type of recall for this issue. This fix will be at least 1,000-1,300.

Their labor rate is only $68 an hour but with 9 hours to take out and put back in the dash that's still $612.00. Is there any other way to fix this without taking the whole dash out?

why would they make "easy-break oven" controls that zoom into the stop and break the stop....where are we getting these fully educated purveyors of material strength and degradation over time studies?...guess they were off drinkin' a beer and buyin' a HERO sandwich on the boulevard~ so much for your research and development overpaid loons~
