Headlights won’t stay on

Asked by Julielynnanderson Dec 01, 2020 at 05:43 AM about the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer 2LT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Headlights will not stay on for more then 10
minutes. It takes a long time to get them back on
but then they go off again! I don’t stay out past dark
because of this issue! Our temps are in the 30’s and
they seem to stay on longer! What could be the
issue before it’s pushed over a clif

Piece of cake, it's your headlight relay #46 under the hood in the fuse box. There's actually a recall for this, but doesn't include all years. BUT, it does affect all years. The new updated relay is way too expensive, $100 plus. I just swap with the older style, and keep extra in glovebox. Knock on wood, been good for years. In a pinch, swap it with the relay right next to it (same relay for cooling fan), but watch your temp. chances are even with swapping with the fan relay, it will be fine, but get a new relay.
