Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This car is owned by my mechanic who is a Subie specialist. Looks great runs good. He says everything has been replaced, upgraded on it and he wants big bucks- 11K, no negotiation.
He has his home shop and lives in the neighborhood.  I am 70 years old. and I choose a reliable, comfortable car for a couple long trips before I'm gone...
Thanks Priya

I would probably pass. What are the upgrades and replacements you mentioned? If he is a Subie mechanic have him give you a 2 year 20,000 mile warranty to back up his talk.

Phew! At $11k should get recent dry head gaskets, full new exhaust (inc front cat, rear Y pipe and pair of mufflers), quiet wheel bearings, and a clean trans. Otherwise it's a $5-7k oldster...like us!

A factory certified car will give you some peace of mind but keep in mind that used cars these days can cost more than new ones. Yes really.
