Intake Manifold Gasket

Asked by Kim Dec 20, 2014 at 06:21 PM about the 2008 Toyota Corolla CE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How often does the intake manifold gasket need to be changed. I just changed mine as
the engine light had been on for some time. The gasket was found to be faulty and is
cheap enough, but two hours of labour?

Changing these intake manifold gaskets can be a pain and some can have even more labor hours to change them. To answer your question there is not a specified amount of time that these should be changed except when the part fails, this is the only time the gaskets should be replaced. As long as the mounting surface where the gasket goes is cleaned properly and the surfaces are plum, you should not have any more problems out of this gasket for at least 100000 miles
