Vehicle will turn over but won't start

Asked by gcs7833 Aug 13, 2019 at 12:50 AM about the 2008 Buick Lucerne CX FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced the fuel pump, camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position
sensor, ignition module, and coil pack and the vehicle will not start. IT is not a
problem with the fuse box that many of the 08 Lucernes have. There is also no
spark from the spark plug.

You could hear the fuel pump turn on when you turned the key? A fuel pump does not need 12 volts to operate properly. Secondly, did you physically take out the spark plug from you 7 or 8 piston and see there was no spark? Changing a fuel pump is one of these last things I would change with this situation. It's time consuming and most expensive. Last but not least, check your battery fluid level to see that it is full. With a half ass battery you get half ass cold crank and no start

Even if the starter works, it might not be turning fast enough to start the engine, so it could be the battery. Are all the connections clean & tight. Might be a defective starter motor/solenoid, regulator, relay, neutral safety switch, or even the ignition switch. Might be a camshaft or crankshaft sensor. If you see a security light on the dash display, the engine might be immobilized..... Beyond that, your car might have an ignition or fuel pump problem. You're either not getting proper fuel or spark. Really could be either. Without seeing the car, it's not possible to say what the exact problem is. Why don't you take it to a mechanic to diagnose. You'll then have his opinion and estimate and can have him fix it, or use his review as a guide to doing repairs yourself?
