Should the automatic gear shift area light up showing which gear I am in at night when I turn on the headlights?

I have just bought the car and noticed that the gear shift area does not light up at night. Just wanted to know if there IS a bulb there. I'll take it back to the dealer for the fix. Thanks much . . .

I too just bought the same kinda of car and bothers me I can’t tell what gear I’m going into at night everything else lights up can’t understand why that don’t now I know must not be a bulb maybe cuz it tells ya your gear near the speedometer

yes your gear shift light should be on when your lights go on and you re driving the car if you just bought it bring it back the car shouldnt pass inspection without the gear light on
