What's wrong with this tranny?

Asked by 2007_DodgeRam4x4 Feb 19, 2015 at 12:03 PM about the 2007 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 2007 dodge ram 1500 4x4
quad cab truck. No lights are on at all. Has
101,000 miles on it. Motor runs perfect but
transmission shifts funny. kinda worrying
me. It pulls strong but hesitates when
shifting and shifts into o/d too soon. Which
causes it to bog a little. When I press
accelerator enough it downshifts but is like
I'm trying to hotrod it and I don't want to
tear the truck up. With no lights on what do
I do? I don't want the tranny to fall out on
me. Could this be a sensor/ minor. Or is the
tranny gonna have to be rebuilt??

2007 Dodge uses a detent cable for throttle pressure and kickdown. If you know how to adjust it you need "more" pressure which means unlock the cable with your hand on it to prevent it from jumping and slide the cable housing back. This will increase throttle pressure. Move it in small increments of 1/8" to 3/16" at a time and road test in between adjustments. If you need to see it being adjusted just search you tube for throttle cable adjust on Ram. Hope this helps.
