Acura Legend Engine Shut off

Asked by libgkid Dec 03, 2015 at 05:48 PM about the 1992 Acura Legend LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My acura Legend 92 was running fine but with some initial start up
problems. I replaced the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, but only to
cause more problems. The engine feels very sluggish when driving and
when i come to a stop it shuts off. Does anyone know what could be
causing this. The new fuel pump I bought is smaller than the original one.
could this be the problem. It was one of those aftermarket fuel pumps.
could this be the cause of this new problem. Help me please

What size motor and is it and what does it have for the fuel delivery system ? Suspecting a fuel issue yet. Let me know what you have...

On the fuel pump, as long as you purchased it for your car & size motor, aftermarket parts like this can look different. They should put out the recommended fuel pressure of 30 to 38 lbs. at an idle. I would suggest doing a bleed down fuel pressure test, building up pressure and turning the key off, pressure should not drop more than 5 lbs. If it does then there is a leak somewhere.
